News from the NAMA Support Projects: Costa Rican climate-friendly coffee served at BMUB’s 30th anniversary

On September 10th and 11th 2016 in Berlin, the “Umweltpolitik 3.0 – Das Festival der Zukunft” (Environmental policy 3.0 – the festival of the future) festival took place, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH seized the opportunity and presented its work on the topics of environment and climate – among them the latest milestones and current work-in-progress of the NAMA Support Project “Low-Emission Coffee Costa Rica”. A sample of genuine Costa Rican coffee awaited visitors at the GIZ “Klima Café”.

News from the NAMA Support Projects: GIZ Costa Rica, MAG, MINAE and ICAFE sign agreement benefitting 6,000 coffee growers / Efforts of NAMA Café lead to its first certified carbon neutral coffee mill

On Friday 9th 2016 Costa Rica celebrated one of its most important agricultural products: Under the patronage of the Ministry for Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) the National Coffee Day was celebrated at its offices in San José, Costa Rica. As part of the festivities, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the MAG, the Ministry for Environment and Energy (MINAE) and the National Coffee Institute (ICAFE) signed an agreement which makes technical and financial resources of more than US$ 7 million available, thus benefitting 6,000 farmers across the entire country. In addition, representatives of the NAMA Café congratulated the first coffee mill to be certified as carbon neutral under the guidance of the NAMA Café.

Get engaged – Mid Term Evaluation of the NAMA Facility

Since 2013, the NAMA Facility has launched three calls for proposals, resulting in 14 NAMA Support Projects (NSP) receiving accumulated funding of more than 200 million euros. The fourth call is ongoing. The Facility is currently also undergoing a Mid-Term Evaluation, led by LTS International. We are looking for your opinions and inputs on this evaluation!
