The NAMA Facility announces a 4th Call – further funding available for the implementation of ambitious climate projects

Germany and the UK provide additional funds for ambitious actions to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries. On 4 July 2016, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) and the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) have committed to fund up to € 60 million for a 4th Call of the NAMA Facility. The NAMA Facility will continue to support developing countries and emerging economies in implementing the most ambitious NAMAs with a high potential for transformational change towards a low-carbon development trajectory.

Short description webinar: In this webinar, the Technical Support Unit of the NAMA Facility discussed the importance of transformational change and financial mechanisms and explained the link to the development of Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs). The participants had the opportunity to raise questions and discuss the topics raised.

NAMA Facility – outlook on activities in 2016

In preparation of a potential 4th Call, the Technical Support Unit of the NAMA Facility is revising the procedures of the NAMA Facility in order to simplify access, improve readiness for implementation as well as to strengthen the financial structuring of NAMAs and their linkage to the Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDCs).
