NAMA Facility participates in the 9th African Carbon Forum

The NAMA Facility was invited to participate in the annual African Carbon Forum (ACF), held this year in Cotonou, Benin during 28–30 June 2017. The 9th ACF focussed on strengthening the engagement between state and non-state actors in key sectors for Africa, such as energy, agriculture and human settlements.

The NAMA Facility contributed to the Technical Meeting on Mitigation “Exploring Pathways to Transform African Cities into Low Emission and Sustainable Cities” jointly organised by the UNFCCC, UN Habitat and ICLEI. Mr Ash Sharma, Senior Climate Finance Adviser, made a presentation on Climate Action in the African Urban Environment – Reflections from the NAMA Facility, drawing upon the experience of five African NAMA Support Projects financed by the Facility, with particular reference to housing, urban waste management and low carbon transport projects in the portfolio.
